One of the problems with City of Heroes is that there is so much utility hidden from casual use. I understand about keeping the defaults simple to avoid confusing players, but sometimes they make it harder than it should be to find that you could have so much more. The best example of this is the team list.
Here's what the team list looks like by default.
Note the little blue arrow on the right side (I circled it just to make it obvious). That sucker is easy to miss and it's a shame if you do.
Here's what it looks like if you click the arrow.
Note that you can see active bonuses on your teammates, including handy inspirations so that you can tell if someone has a bunch of defense buffs up. This is very nice to know if you're a healer or buffer because you can see when your buffs run out.
But that's only when you're in the same zone. Between missions, it looks like this.
All those times you wondered where all your teammates were? Now you know how to find out without even having to ask.
This is only the most obvious example of lamentable defaults. Another place this comes up is in the global friends list.
Here's the default with the overlookable arrow again circled (click for an expanded picture). And the same screen only after
hitting that little arrow. Note the wealth of information now present (well, you can if you expand the image...). It now gives me server, zone, level, and team size in addition to the name of the character they are currently playing. That's good stuff to know.
Maybe I just have a personally high tolerance for clutter because I like having all those things expanded. Even if I'm just odd, though, it should at least be a bit more obvious that you have the options. Little blue arrows hiding in corners just aren't getting the job done, in my opinion.
